Generally, Literature refers to different types of text including novels, non-fiction, poetry, and plays, among other forms. However, Literature is a contested term, as new mediums for communication provide different types of contemporaryLiterature. Also, to develop independently enquiring minds and encourages life time learning and appreciation of Literature written across the different phases of world history. The possible career options after studying English Literature include Teacher, Lectureship, Journalism and Mass communication, Writer, Editor, Linguistics, Translator, Communication Management, etc. The Department also offers Honours Degree in English Literature - It is a three year course which gives you the ability to analyze and form innovative ideas. This Degree opens a wide range of opportunities for the students. The student along with the honours papers studies a subsidiary subject which broadens her horizon.
